About us
The University of Valencia is generally recognized as one of the most outstanding Spanish universities in both national and international rankings, such as Shanghai and CHE university rankings. The University of Valencia produces 63% of the indexed references of all Valencian universities and ranks third among Spanish universities in indexed scientific production. More than 300 PhD theses are presented every year in the framework of 113 Master’s and 74 PhD Programmes, 24 of which have obtained the special Exellence Award given by the Spanish Education Ministry. Lastly, its increasing research budget (over € 52 million) is an indicator of the scientific and technological capabilities of the University of Valencia.
The University of Valencia takes part in VLC/Campus, an action that has been distinguished as a Campus of International Excellence, a stamp of quality awarded by the Spanish Ministry for Science and Innovation. The objective of VLC/Campus is to become a hub of knowledge of international excellence, through specialization of scientific-technological production in health, communication and sustainability.

Gerardo Herrera Gutiérrez
Gerardo Herrera Gutiérrez is a researcher of Adapta Lab based at the Robotics, Communications and Technologies Institute of the Universitat de València (Spain). He has published a number of papers on IT for people at risk of exclusion, including in high impact scientific journals. He chaired the Scientific Committee of the three editions of the International Conference on IT and ASD (ITASD.org). He is currently a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of DOCTRID Institute (Ireland), under the EU Funded ASSISTID research programme. Although his original background is in Computer Science, he also develops contributions on psychological and educational field, having edited a number of books on autism research and intervention.

Lucia Vera Mahiques
Lucia Vera studied Computer Engineering at the University of Valencia (UV) (1999), being Extraordinary Prize of her promotion. She received a Predoctoral Scholarship from the Generalitat Valenciana for 4 years, developing her work in the Artec group of Robotics Institute at the UV. She obtained the Diploma of Advanced Studies (DEA) in the doctoral program "Information Technology, Computing and Communication" of the UV (2001). Later she was Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science of the UV for 4 years. She studied the Master in Administration and Project Management of UV and Polibienestar (2011). She is currently a Researcher in the Artec group of the Robotics Institute (UV), an expert in Advanced Multimodal Interfaces, Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality applications, as well as in the simulation and animation of virtual characters for interactive environments.
